Emerge Online has just kicked off its 2017 creative writing program for 13-17 years olds. This semester, we are working on a choose-your-own-adventure project. Get amongst it!

Originally intended for an anthology project, I've just finished writing a quirky short story that blends history with Grail mythology. The story follows Sir Galahad after the events of the Fisher King and the disappearance of the Holy Grail.
Check it out here.
So the other day I spontaneously decided to return to a long-forgotten passion of mine; game reviewing! And since the timing was perfect, I decided to review Civilization VI, which has just been released. I will warn that this is a lengthy read (probably four or five times longer than a normal game review, but that's Civilization for you!)
Check out the review here.
Emerge, the creative writing program for teenagers, has moved online! We will still be running weekend and holiday workshops at Riverway, but our day-to-day workshops, projects and writing community will now be hosted on Edmodo.

I plan on writing a choose-your-own-adventure style adult horror story for my next major project. I've got to finish writing Blue Eyes before I can really get stuck into it but I was looking around the internet for ways to manage the branching story lines and came across inklewriter. It's a pretty amazing tool.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it's in English, thank a soldier.
Not normally my cup of tea, this piece by Ariella Van Luyn looks promising. Just pre-purchased my copy and looking forward to sitting down to it. It will be on shelves soon. Great to see a local author getting published, show her some support.
Just finished reading local author Bruce Elliot's first published book, Manipulation. What I at first thought was going to be yet another detective thriller surprised me by turning into a foray into the snuff world. And for once, I didn't see the twist coming until right at the end. Sucked me in, I read the thing in two days. Bloody good job mate.
Recently discovered World Poetry Day was a thing. So I dug up an old poem I started about five years ago (working title is "A New Day") when I was going through a rough trot and fixed it up a bit so I could share it to celebrate the day.

Debut Novel: Kanimbla

My first novel is complete! It's pretty hefty, sitting around 110k words. It'll be a little while before it gets published, though. I've set it aside for now while I work on my second novel. When I'm finished with that I'll go back and edit it with fresh eyes, then send it on to the professionals. Look out, 2018!
